Nonsense – and the experience beyond is an extraordinary approach to creative ideation developed for my diploma at ABK Stuttgart. The method sharpens awareness for everyday strangeness—moments that contradict personal worldviews—and transforms them into real-life experiences. Four manifestations explored personality tests, houseplants, vacuum robots, and imposter syndrome through three installations and a performance.
The Interview
Rather than presenting results conventionally, the diploma itself became an experience.
A mockumentary interview follows a young student who comes into possession of three abandoned art installations and decides to claim them as his own. Through his investigation to understand their origins, he's unknowingly pulled deeper into the worlds they create—his perspectives shifting as he explores each piece.
Mirror Mirror: stone seals unlock corrupted personality data that breaks free and reshapes its surroundings.
New Nature: a structure holding swappable photographs pairing nature sounds with urban imagery.
Monument for a Vacuum Robot: a concrete Roomba levitating in light, honored through messages in text and binary code.
What begins as a hunt for plausible explanations transforms into genuine experience—until the lights cut out, time jumps forward, and the "real" diploma presentation begins.
The Poster
A gateway into the exhibition world. An animated poster featuring an audio-reactive 3D object that contracts and shifts color as a robotic voice reads the exhibition information aloud, then recites a guiding poem.
The Principle: Detect everyday glitches that contradict your worldview, resist explaining them away, decipher their alternative rules, and transform them into tangible experiences. The inspiration gained generates artifacts of a parallel worldview for audiences to explore.
Exhibitions
Following the diploma presentation at ABK Stuttgart, Nonsense was shown in two solo exhibitions at Kulturbunker Stuttgart and Künstlerhaus Ulm. Each exhibition is highly adapted to its space—using light, room structure, and the history of each venue to create a coherent atmosphere and reason for why these installations exist here.
